WHAT IS HACK4EARTH?
Hack4Earth is a premier hackathon event cultivating the creative potential of young minds to ideate, innovate, and pave the way for a sustainable future through the power of technology. The event has been split up into two exciting categories, the “Hackathon” and the “Ideathon”, to provide a platform for designers, coders, artists, and storytellers to innovate for a brighter future. Both tracks challenge participants to unleash their creativity and present groundbreaking ideas that address pressing sustainability challenges in areas such as water and waste management, healthcare, and education. Hack4Earth is open to all middle, high school, and college students across the world. If you register, you will receive nearly $400 in participation prizes thanks to our sponsors! In total, we have $150,000+ worth of prizes that will be awarded to participants and top performers.
Note: Registrations are open until our submission deadline on October 1st!

WHICH TRACK IS BEST FOR ME?
Hackathon
- Beginner: New to the world of sustainability and technology? The Beginner Track is tailor-made for you. This track is designed to guide you through the exciting realm of coding and innovation. Whether you are a middle school student or an absolute beginner with less than a year of experience, this is your starting point.
- Advanced: Are you an experienced programmer, ready to take your skills to the next level? The Advanced Track is your calling. With one or more years of programming under your belt, you will be judged separately from participants in the Beginner track to ensure fairness. Here, you'll transform your coding skills into working solutions; there will be a larger prize pool due to higher expectations.
Ideathon
Passionate about sustainability but have no coding experience? The Ideathon Track welcomes your ingenious ideas and proposals. You don't need to be a programmer; all you need is creativity and the desire to innovate. Ideathon participants will submit a product pitch in the form of a video supported by resources such as sketches, a business model, and evidence supporting their ideas. You are free to switch to the hackathon at any point before the submission deadline.

Requirements
What to Build
In the hackathon, participants are encouraged to harness their creativity to craft innovative impactful solutions that contribute to a more sustainable world. Tackle challenges such as water conservation, food/agriculture, smart cities, healthcare, and education with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as your guiding light: you are free to choose any challenge that you resonate with. Whether you’re developing a water use tracking app, waste marketplace platform, AI-powered recipe generator app, or any other application, your goal is to drive positive change in the environment and society at large through software and/or hardware.
In the ideathon, we invite you to step into the role of an entrepreneur: your mission is to present a compelling product pitch that solves a sustainability-related challenge of your choice (inspiration can be found here). Your pitch could include a prototype/sketch, business model, and/or an idea that is feasible and supported by evidence. The ideathon empowers you to showcase your innovative ideas and propose creative solutions to address critical challenges in sustainability without building a product.
What to Submit for Hackathon
-
Include a video (no more than 3 minutes) that demonstrates your submission.
-
